A friend recently went on a woodland photography workshop around West Dorset, his favourite location was Hooke Park. I hadn't visited it for years and luckily there was a free morning the following day, so I packed my gear ready for an early start.
Sunrise was colourful affair as I dropped down from Eggardon Hill, unlike the roads, which were rivers of mud - we have had a lot of rain this autumn.
I parked up, walking boots on and into the wood, I wasn't prepared for the amount of colour that laid before me. The wood consists of mainly mature beech trees, the leaves were at their autumnal best, with the wet dark trunks providing plenty of contrast - it was glorious.
Actually a bit too much, it was way too pretty for me and decided that I would concentrate on black and white images. This didn't last long, the colours were demanding attention. To mix it up and try to make my images different, I switched my camera to 16x9 ratio, with the intention of cropping again in post to 6x2 - giving me panoramic images.
I had a wonderful few hours bathing in the woodland environment, just making a few scrapbook images.
Beautiful shots with beautiful colors! I especially like the foggy, moody feel of "Mixed Bag."
